How Does Broadband Light Work?

BBL stands for Broadband Light, a type of Intense Pulse Light (IPL) that uses a selection of light wavelengths to treat many skin conditions, including pigmented lesions such as age spots or those resulting from sun damage, vascular lesions such as spider veins, or rosacea, and even active acne, skin laxity and uneven skin texture. Indefinite hair reduction can also be achieved with Sciton BBL™.

Sciton BBL™ delivers short pulses of light that gently heat up the upper layers of the skin and targets pigment deposited after sun exposure and with aging as well as small superficial vessels that cause redness. Production of collagen is also stimulated to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture and appearance. Studies have also shown Sciton BBL™ treatments to modify cellular expression at a molecular level causing a slow down of the aging process and allowing patients who undergo maintenance treatments over the years to look dramatically younger. This powerful combination of benefits allows patients to achieve a bright and youthful complexion once lesions are removed and collagen is stimulated.

Am I A Good Candidate?

The versatility of the Sciton BBL™ Laser makes it a good solution for most patients. If you’re interested in laser treatment for age or vascular concerns, schedule a consultation with The Vascular Experts Florida to get started.

How Long Do BBL™ Treatments Take?

Sciton BBL™ treatments may take 15 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the treatment area and number of concerns being treated. Sciton BBL™ technology allows for faster, more targeted treatment without switching between multiple handpieces and is incredibly comfortable due to its unparalleled cooling technology.

What Results Will I See with the Sciton BBL™ Laser?

You’ll notice definitive improvement within a few days of your initial treatment. Most patients require 3-6 treatments to achieve optimal results, and should continue to notice improvements over the course of the recommended treatment plan.

Is There Any Downtime?

There’s minimal to no downtime with Sciton BBL™ treatment. Pigmentation and vascular lesions may darken as they break up and are absorbed, but most patients should not experience any side effects and can wear makeup right away.
