How Much Do Spider Vein Treatments Cost?

If you have spider veins – those annoying red, blue, or purple veins that may criss-cross your legs, arms, or even your face – then you’ve probably been on the hunt for ways to get rid of them for good.

After all, you want to wear shorts or a dress without feeling self-conscious of your spider veins!

That’s why, at The Vascular Experts Florida, we offer a menu of innovative spider vein treatments designed to help you get clear skin again. Our most effective treatment for spider veins is sclerotherapy, which is a minimally invasive solution that can target most discolored veins.

Read on to learn more about sclerotherapy, including the cost of this spider vein treatment.

Sclerotherapy Windermere

The Best Spider Vein Treatment: Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is considered one of the best treatments for spider veins because it can directly target the spider vein at its source.

Sclerotherapy uses a special medication, Polidocanol, to trigger vein closure. Once injected into the spider vein, it becomes irritated and shuts, resulting in the vein’s death (don’t worry, it’s not harmful). Once the vein closes up, blood flow is redirected to healthier veins, and the treated spider vein is eventually reabsorbed by surrounding tissue.

Average Cost of Sclerotherapy

There are multiple factors that affect the cost of sclerotherapy treatments for spider veins. The average cost of a single sclerotherapy treatment is $350 to $600. Factors that could affect the cost of your spider vein treatment include:

  • The experience and educational background of your vascular surgeon of the professional performing your treatment
  • The amount of medication, number of injections and number of sessions needed based on your specific situation and severity of spider veins
  • The location of the clinic or office
  • Any sales or promotions offered by the clinic or office

Sclerotherapy is considered cosmetic and not usually covered by insurance but there are instances when a vein specialist may detect signs and symptoms of an underlying venous problem that may warrant further evaluation and more comprehensive treatment.   In these situations, insurance will cover the treatment of the underlying condition but sclerotherapy will still be considered cosmetic and not covered by insurance plans.
