How Much Does Varicose Vein Treatment Cost?

The average cost of varicose vein treatment depends on the type of procedure that you receive and the extent and severity of your varicose vein. Small vein removal procedures typically cost much less than larger ones. Treatment costs also vary by provider, geographic location, as well as the complexity of your case.

On average, prices for microphlebectomy cost between $1,500 and $3,000, plus any additional fees required for aftercare. Laser treatments, however, can sometimes be more affordable, ranging between $600 and $3,000.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

There are several ways that you can address varicose veins. However, the option you choose depends on your medical history and the severity of your case. Dr. Vargas and the team consult with you to find the right treatment for you.

Microphlebectomy

Microphlebectomy is a technique that involves making a tiny incision in the leg and then removing problematic veins through the hole. The treatment works because veins are flexible, long, and strong. We simply separate the vein from the surrounding blood vessels and remove it through the opening.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a type of treatment for spider veins that involves injecting them with a foam, which eventually causes them to collapse and be reabsorbed back into the body.

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLT)

Endovenous laser ablation relies on the use of high-energy light waves. Dr. Vargas and the team insert a laser-tipped catheter into problematic veins to create scar tissue. This process blocks off blood supply from the rest of the blood vessels, causing the trapped areas to die and become absorbed back into the body. While this happens, the body automatically reroutes blood supply around the treatment area, giving you smoother, more beautiful skin.

Average Cost of Varicose Vein Treatment

The average cost of varicose vein treatment varies according to the type of treatment you receive. Prices can range from $600 to $3,000, but most patients will pay in the region of $1,500. Please note that additional costs will apply for any aftercare. It is important to keep in mind that this price point is not a direct quote, but rather an average. Other factors will likely influence your final cost.

Varicose vein treatment is highly effective and rarely requires any downtime. After treatment, you are free to get on with your regular schedule.

When Should I Consider Varicose Vein Treatment?

If you have spider veins or varicose veins on your body, you may want to consider one or several of the varicose vein treatments discussed above. The type of procedure you receive depends heavily on your veins’ location, size, and the symptoms you are experiencing. Some varicose veins cause no pain at all, while some may cause discomfort during exercise.

How quickly you experience results again depends on the particular procedure you choose. Microphlebectomy patients see improvements immediately because the treatment involves physically removing the offending veins. With sclerotherapy and EVLT, treatment effects become visible in around three to four weeks. At the end of each procedure, you should notice smoother, more beautiful skin.
