What are the Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Over time, aging, acne, and environmental factors damage your skin. Laser skin resurfacing is a treatment that improves your complexion by activating the latent rejuvenating potential of your dermis, making it look younger and healthier. It is a tool you can use to restore your natural glow, giving you confidence.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a technique that uses concentrated light to remove surface layers of skin selectively to resolve a multitude of skin concerns. Dr. Lina Vargas carefully passes a laser-emitting device over your face, targeting cells and encouraging them to switch to a rejuvenating mode. In the days following treatment, your skin heals and eventually looks and feels more vibrant and healthy.

Laser resurfacing is a common procedure that you can have performed alongside several other therapies here at the Vascular Experts Florida. The combined effect is tighter, younger-looking skin.

Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

The benefits of laser skin resurfacing are considerable:

  • Reduction of acne scarring. Scars from cystic acne can damage your confidence. Laser skin resurfacing reduces the signs of scarring by encouraging new growth from deeper in the dermis.
  • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Vargas and the team can target wrinkles around your mouth, eyes, or brows, reducing their appearance without fillers or surgery.
  • Improvement in skin dullness. Aging and environmental factors can make the skin appear dull. Laser skin resurfacing stimulates cells to regain their youthful vibrancy, improving blood supply to the face as well as skin softness.

Is There Any Downtime?

Laser resurfacing is an outpatient procedure, meaning that there is no need for you to spend time here with us after your treatment. You are free to continue with your schedule as usual.

Please note that your skin will be sore and sensitive to sunlight for several days following treatment. Thus, you may wish to limit time outside and you should wear SPF 30 or higher if you go outdoors. Your skin may also appear redder and blotchier than usual – a reason why some patients take some social downtime.

In the first 24 hours after treatment, you’ll need to keep the lasered area clean and apply the topicals that Dr. Vargas provides.

Please note that it is common for patients to experience some itching sensations in the first 72 hours after the procedure. Complete healing can take anywhere from ten to twenty-one days.
